The tour starts in San Cristobal de Las Casas at 9:00 a.m. for driving to Rancho Nuevo caves and the local community of Amatenango.
Then the tour moves to El Chiflon Cascade, also known as Velo de Novia (Bride's Veil). Swim in the pristine waters of a calm river or go uphill to get a better perspective of the almost 400 foot high waterfall. There are paths to explore the area and many more exciting activities. There are also stands and restaurants where you may buy exquisite regional dishes.
Finally we arrive to the Lagunas de Montebello National Park begins. This park is a huge natural reserve area with an extension of approximately 15,000 acres, including pine and holm oak forests as well as jungle vegetation. Undoubtedly, the most important attractions of the park are the nearly 60 lagoons with colors ranging from jade green to turquoise blue. These lagoons fill this natural reserve with color and life here in Chiapas, Mexico, near the border with Guatemala.
During the tour, visit up to 9 different lagoons, such as the Tziscao Lagoon (which has a viewpoint from where you can see neighboring Guatemala), or the also lovely Encantada Lagoon (Enchanted Lagoon). Each and every landscape in this national park offers great photo opportunities so don't forget to bring your camera!
